A well-trained
dog is a joy to all. Sometimes, the task may seem
nearly impossible. The key is understanding how your dog thinks and how
they communicate. Fluffy, Butch, and Max are not little people in fur
coats. They look at the world in a different way than you do.
TEACHER'S PET
can prevent your "worlds" from colliding by teaching
you how to read your dog and effectively
train him/her to respond to commands without physical devices, bribery,
or emotional confrontations. Our methods here at
Houston Texas Dog Obedience Training, are based on sound scientific
principles of canine behavior and psychology as well as the experience
of working with hundreds of dogs and owners who have achieved
remarkable results.
TEACHER'S PET
specializes in solving behavior problems like housebreaking, separation
anxiety, and aggression. We also provide programs in
basic obedience. Our system incorporates a "train the trainer" method
in which positive reinforcement and praise get results ...a
well-mannered family member and a lovable pet.

The Program
All sessions are conducted privately with client(s) and dog(s). Programs are individually designed.
We start with a profile to identify problems and set specific goals.
Whether
we are starting with a 10-week old puppy or an adult dog with "issues",
we'll
spend some time talking about canine behavior, and how dogs think,
learn,
and communicate. This makes the difference
between a dog that simply "knows"
commands and one that will readily respond in any situation. Our
philosophy
at Teacher's Pet Behavioral Counseling is that effective communication
and an
appropriate relationship in which your dog trusts you as a "good
leader" is
the key to having a well-mannered pet. Our emphasis is on coaching the
owner
as training a dog involves some skill on the part of the person who is
attempting to give direction. Our methods are very "hands-free" and
employ
the principles of psychology and canine heirachy to achieve what is
most
people's goal in training -- to have a dog that
will respond without having to
yell, repeat, physically handle, or depend on extraneous devices.
Sessions last about 45 minutes to 1 hour and conducted about
once a week.
The owner must commit to working with the dog between sessions as the
program is progressive. The number of sessions depends on what the
owner's
goals are but packages are available at discounted rates. For more
